The Records Division processes all reports generated by the Department ensuring their timely submission. The Records Division staff also handles requests for copies of reports and assists walk-ins to the Police Department. Records staff are trained by SBI Division of Criminal Information training specialists to accurately process all incident reports and submit the Uniform Crime Report (UCR) data to the SBI Division of Criminal Information. The Records Division is currently using USA Software’s CrimeFile 2000 Incident Reporting software to generate the UCR reports and electronically submit them to the SBI in Raleigh. Data submitted includes but is not limited to: o classification and scoring of offenses o clearances o property values o arrest counts o submission of updated and/or corrected data. Records staff submit traffic crash reports that show damage of $1,000 or more or injuries to the Collisions Report Division of the North Carolina DMV. All traffic crash reports are scanned and placed on the Internet. Copies of accident reports can be obtained from Records Division staff or by going on-line to www.policereports.us. Records staff also record traffic citations and submit our agency’s traffic stop statistics to the SBI. The Records Division can provide you with a copy of your traffic citation as well as look up a court date if needed. The Records Division is open Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. During this time you can obtain copies of police reports. If possible, have your report number available to help expedite your request. Please allow at least 48 hours for your report to be completed and processed.
