The police maintained a 4 minute 13 second response time to emergency calls for service in year 2007. The response time is determined from the time the communication center receives the call until the arrival of the first officer on scene. This is a result of officers being evenly distributed throughout the town.
There were 16,274 calls for service and 2,730 reports taken in 2007, as opposed to 18,153 calls for service and 2,707 reports taken in 2006. These numbers reflect a 1% decrease in calls for service, but a 1% increase in reports taken. The Pineville Police Department dispatched 12,320 calls for service for the Town of Mint Hill in 2006, and 11,813 in 2007. This also reflects a 1% decrease in calls for service.
The following chart illustrates and compares the number of crimes by category occurring from 2006 through 2007. Criminal incidents are reported to the State Bureau of Investigation and published in the Uniform Crime Report (UCR) as measurement of crime trends throughout the United States.
